Overview:
The Business participates in a highly dynamic market characterized by rapid and significant evolution of technical capabilities and customer specifications. Products offered by the Business Unit include state of the art elements and lead times for procurement frequently impact the ability to fulfill customer requirements. Prysmian is a division of a complex multinational organization.
Qualifications:
- BS in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 5 years management experience working in a manufacturing environment and encompassing production management, materials management, business systems, and quality control.
- Lean Manufacturing training including Kaizen and 6S strongly preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable regarding SAP business systems, manufacturing process equipment, test, and inspection procedures, and MRP/MPS.
- Preferred experience in ISO 9000/ISO 14000 certification and compliance.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel training highly recommended.

- Identifying and reacting to factors which could lead to downtime or loss of productivity – requires constant review of production line performance, materials availability, availability of qualified personnel, and production equipment calibration/performance.

As the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
Safety:
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
- Ensure that all Prysmian policies and practices are in place and observed with respect to safety and to maintain a safe work environment.
- Lead as a safety and PPE ambassador and by example for all staff.
- Function as the emergency point of contact, follow emergency procedures including evacuations, muster point roll call, plant management notification, fiber plant communication and coordinating emergency response activities with local authorities and internal safety staff.
- May handle hazardous materials/waste in accordance with environmental/safety system.
Quality:
- Implement and maintain Quality practices/procedures in the Process Unit to meet Prysmian standards and to comply with the requirements of ISO 9000/ISO 14000.
- Ensure all product meets requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
- Monitor and report on Quality Notes driving identified corrective actions. (QN’s)
- Co-ordinate corrective activities with quality, engineering and maintenance as needed.
- Regular participation in team assignments, Kaizen Blitz, and Kaizen events regarding Quality Control.
Leadership:
- Identify, motivate, train, schedule and retain qualified employees and team leads to meet production needs.
- Drive the Prysmian continuous improvement culture which includes:
- Supporting all Tier Communication processes, lead Tier 1 meetings, encourage operators to take accountability for production goals and report production data.
- Help conduct 5-Why root causes analysis and problem solving and decide corrective actions.
- Utilizing Right the First-Time boards to capture initiative-taking line specific corrective actions and support preventative maintenance and ongoing 6S activities and housekeeping activities.
- Motivate, encourage, and coach operators and team leads.
- Complete detailed shift reports including Leader Standard Work (LSW).
- Develop and update skills matrix and help develop and implement shift training plans.
- Ensure that all Prysmian policies and practices are in place and observed with personnel-related matters to ensure consistent and fair treatment of employees.
Key Contacts include:
Delivery:
- Work with management to plan and coordinate shift staffing and production activities.
- Optimize reassignment of operators to different production lines based on dynamic requirements including job reprioritization, materials availability, and staffing changes.
- Make sure the production lines run smoothly and efficiently and meet daily goals.
- Help trouble shoot production line startup interruptions including raw material shortages to resume production output as quickly as possible.
- Plan, organize and direct the assigned process to ensure the optimum utilization of equipment and maximize employee productivity.
- Monitor daily production schedules utilizing MRP and MPS systems to ensure an efficient level of production while meeting customer requirements and achieving production forecasts.
- Responsible for production line configuration, maintenance, and adjustment of operating equipment to optimize productivity and equipment utilization.
- Monitor and prepare reports including but not limited to:
- Number of persons in the department/function you directly or indirectly control: managerial/professional, other staff: hourly.
- Monthly and Daily Production Schedule.
- Production Employee Absentee Rate.
- Safety – Frequency, Severity.
- Hourly Employee Turnover.
- Productivity.
- Quality – Maintaining Division Standards.
Inventory and Cost:
- Participate in monthly and ad hoc inventory stock taking counts.
- Promote annual gain share goals and aims and lead supporting initiatives such as scrap reduction and increased labor efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manufacturing management.
