Job Description

Programmatic need being met by this request : This role is vital to ensuring that critical Knowledge Base content for client staff is created, edited, and updated regularly and according to process or policy changes that provide staff with access to resources to help them in their daily roles. Additionally, client is anticipating a migration from Confluence Data Center to Confluence Cloud which will result in vast changes to how our current content appears and is laid out. This resource will ensure that the migration happens smoothly while coordinating and managing the associated Technical Writing and Editing efforts of content that is critical to the success of client staff. Lastly, the resource will be working with our Contract Management and Operations teams to address documentation and build out of SOPs and other related processes in our Knowledge Base.

10) Natural Curiosity and passion for learning.

Are there any specialized skills that must be present for the position to be successful:

Candidates should have 3-6 years' experience in technical editing and writing with a focus on documenting operational processes and procedures for staff consumption.

Experience with Confluence preferred.

Certifications and qualifications, including education/degree:

Required :Bachelor's degree in communication, English, or journalism is ideal but would also consider those with a Bachelor's in IT if their IT background was focused in Technical Writing

IT systems that will be used:

Confluence, Jira, Asana, Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint), Salesforce, Oracle/PeopleSoft. Training will be provided for any systems that will be used, though some experience with Confluence Cloud would be ideal. Tasks:

Candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to: reviewing written content by other members of the team and provide coaching where necessary to continuously build team writing skills, partnering with internal SMEs to document SOPs and critical processes for build out and/or migration of content in our Knowledge Base, supporting administration of content management in our Knowledge Base, updating existing knowledge base content using technical writing and editing skills where appropriate, and partnering with team members to develop comprehensive written materials in support of training requirements throughout the Authority. Daily duties include:

1) Coordinate and Facilitate SOP/Process documentation meetings with SMEs

2) Convert/Migrate SOPs/Processes to Knowledge Base

3) Partner with other team members and coach to writing skills and techniques

4) Evaluate existing content in Knowledge Base to identify for areas for improvement

5) Provide substantive feedback on written content produced by team

6) Manage Knowledge Base Contract Management and Data Solutions content updates

7) Manage other projects/tasks with technical writing and editing components as needed .

Technical & Professional Skills & Knowledge:

Has well developed understanding of relevant technical principles and their application to a program area. Has acknowledged expertise at conceptual and strategic level of technical writing. Has basic understanding of State energy/environmental economic development issues. Skilled in technical writing and editing; strong ability to identify technical material and transform communication to general and technical audiences as necessary.

Creativity in Project & Program Development:

Has developed and managed projects with little specific direction. Carried out development of several projects that may or may not result from own initiative. Has provided ideas and rationale for program development in at least one technical area.

Organization Skills & Productivity:

Has demonstrated ability to produce technical writing and editing duties in a timely manner. Demonstrates the capability to manage all aspects of on-going projects with no supervision. Is able to prioritize workload with other responsibilities. Demonstrates strategic thinking connected to the organization's goals

Leadership / Interpersonal Relations / Judgement :

Has demonstrated ability to effectively coach working groups or teams, such as interns or training specialists. Provides guidance to junior staff when appropriate and can supervise the day-to-day work of interns. Has full confidence of peers and superiors. People skills have developed to show leadership and an ability to motivate others.

Communication Skills & External Relations:

Has demonstrated ability to produce both written material and verbal presentations that are direct, comprehensive and concise; and require editing in complex areas. Is able to interface effectively with internal customers and other outside contacts. Has demonstrated ability to prepare and present work at professional meetings.
